Yo no detesto Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

I don't dislike Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Seriosly, I don't hate the book. I know it's kind of a surprise, but for me is not that surpriging, because I read the book with my nostalgia eyes and I am a huan being who is crazy about Harry Potter and his world. It's not the best book I've ever read, really, I'm not going to shout about it, but for me is also not horrendous, horrible or bad. So, a thing to clarify: this is not a common review. In fact, it's probably not a review, even though it's going to be included in my review list (that is in Spanish, sorry). Oh, and another detail: I need to put a spoiler warning.

SPOILER WARNING (I'M NOT KIDDING): Seiously, if you're allergic to spoilers, get out of here. Don't go down, don't insist. This post is surrounded with spoilers, even where you cannot see them, so, please, I beg you, if you haven't read the book yet and you don't want spoilers, don't read this post. I'm not kidding abour the warning, but just in case, here is my spoilers gif.

Well, I think it's been clarified enough that The Cursed Child is a theatre play, not a book, and it starts exactly where Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ends, that the screenplay was written not entirely by Rowling's hand ― although many ideas are hers  and that it's been sold as the eight book in the series. Let's start by erasing the wrong ideas: You can notice this book is not entirely written by Rowling, for the good and the bad. It doesn't has the structure we're use to with the series, it has another topics in it and it has bad and good things. So, let's start this review and make clear what I did like and what I didn't. Beware, SPOILERS.

First: It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

Now, let's get down to bussiness. First, and as an aside note, I must say that the majority of the people hated the casting decisions, but I kinda liked them (except for Draco) and that my favourites were Hermione and Rose. Of course, a lot of people complained because Hermione wasn't white. Ok, I get that Rowling never specified in the books Hermione's race, and when you don't do that ― and your writing in a mostly white scenario ― it's mostly because your character is white, but that didn't mean that Noma Dumezweni couldn't play Hermione. There was a lot of racist complains (and some complains just because Noma and Emma didn't look alike), but I fell in love with the cas as soon as it was revealed and I would love to watch the play, but that's kind of impossible. Meanwhile, here is a picture of the two Hermiones.

Well, the next is talk about the book/screenplay with a list, because everything is inconex in my brain (and you know this is actually not a review):

Albus y Scorpius a Slytherin y Rose a Gryffindor.

1. I love the House selection, it matches my headcanon. Albus and Scorpius in Slytherin and Rose in Gryffindor. At the end it's just a minor detail, but I love it.

2. I also took the Granger-Weasley for my headcanon. It matches perfectly all the things that Hermione represents (and yes, Weasleys were enough). In fact, even though the book has mistakes in the development of Hermione and Ron relationship (like that bitter Hermione in one of the paralel timelines), the Ron and Hermione in the main timeline is pure love and they made me fall in love with Ronmione even more.

3. In fact, I also love Hermione Granger as Ministry of Magic. I also did that in a fanfiction and well, everyone knows this book is like a mediocre fanfic.

4. Yes, the plot is a little fanfic ― and that is not, per se, bad ― but it's like a cheap fanfic. It can be interesting at some points ― not everything. I buy everything with the timeturners because I love time travel and all the effects it can have, although it seems like the authors ignored the canon a little to do that. I'm not convinced about the point that make them return again and again is Cedric's death because there's a thousands more events in the plot that they could change, but I undestand that Cedric's death is the moment the series turned darker.

5. LA HIJA DE VOLDEMORT. Nope.

5. VOLDEMORT'S DAUGHTER. Nope. Nope. Nope. I don't buy that he and Bellatrix had a daughter because I'm conviced that Voldemort was incapable of have an erection. That plotwist is a bad plotwist: there's fanfics with Voldemort's daughters better written in the world! It was too forced, too unnecessary.

6. The relationship between Albus and Scorpius is awesome and I fangirled everymoment. I don't buy that about Rose being Scorpius' crush. No, no, Albus is Scorpius' crush,

8. In general, Albus and Scorpis as characters were likable for me. They do a lot of nonsense searching for the good and the right, and both of them are likable to me because the feel rejection of the rest. Scorpius because, even though her dad loves him, cannot face the rumor he is the child of Voldemort, and Albus because he is a kid of Harry Potter in Slytherin and people still is prejudiced about the house and his own doesn't know how to approach him. I was tempted to give a lot of hugs to both of them.

8. I didn't love Rose entirely, but I'm going to ignore that and create a new version if a write fanfiction.

9. The fact that Draco ends up fighting alongside Harry, Ron and Hermione made me laugh, although there's moments that smell too much to badfic. But the power of the nostalgie is great and I don't have to many complains.

Ok, I admit that my nostalgia was strong and I don't dislike the book maybe because of that, despite the book not being a masterpiece. Finally, I admit that everything that Rowling does about Harry Potter is going to end in my hands and I'm going to be a fangirl about it. This was not a common review, you see?

Hermione blanca o negra no me causa ningún conflicto.

En fin, tampoco odio Harry Potter and the cursed child xD

Sólo me gustó Scorpio.

    Saludos.
